Custom Instrument Design
AOT offers scientific instrument design, construction, and installation services so you can concentrate on theoretical and/or business aspects of your technology. These services include optomechanical engineering to design, build, and test optical technology prototypes, including integration with embedded microprocessor or control electronics using FPGAs, GPGPUs, and real-time operating systems. Our common design tools include SolidWorks for optomechanical design, ZEMAX for optical system design, Ansys/Nastran FEA for vibration and shock analysis, Thermal Desktop for thermo-mechanical and thermo-optical analysis, and Matlab and Mathematica for high-level modeling & simulation. These design, analysis, and M&S domains can be combined for high-fidelity integrated system models using the Comet multi-physics framework. The example below shows a laser-polarimeter design for in-vivo monitoring of thin-film growth in a molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) chamber.
